Prius Made a Toyota Brand

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Toyota Prius, the undisputed king of the hybrid car world, has made the flagship green vehicle a brand of its own. This was in the middle of competing automakers releasing hybrid cars of their own.

Toyoto sold more than 181, 000 Priuses in 2007, ten years after it was launched. There has been a definite drop in car sales of all kinds since that time, but Toyota Prius is certainly the most popular hybrid car in the business.

More than fifty per cent of all hybrid cars bought in the United States are Priuses. Most customers are happy with the car, and it suits their lifestyle in many ways.

However, a common point which most owners agreed on was the lack of space. The American car owner stereo type of space craving is applicable here.

The New five passenger Prius V is meant to address this problem. It will be the answer for those people who have always wanted a Prius, but did not take the step due to the small size. Prius V has space for extra baggage and cargo. Green does not have to be small.

Toyota to reveal Prius Family of Vehicles at 2011 Detroit Auto Show

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

The Prius Family of Vehicles, as it will be known at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show at Cobo Hall, will begin with the 3rd (current) generation of the Toyota Prius and the Prius Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle (PHV), but joining these two current models will be the an “all-new addition to the Prius Family” and a Prius-based concept vehicle. There has been no indication from Toyota as to what we can expect from the new Prius concept vehicle but the all new model will most likely be the new 5-door variant that we have seen teased in viral videos and teasers since October (shown above in the background of the current Prius). The new Prius 5-door will likely offer styling very similar to the current production Prius but with added cargo space; all while offering the fuel economy that has made the name so popular around the world.

There have long been rumors that Toyota would like to spin the Prius off into its own full brand of super-efficient hybrid models and the introduction of the 4 vehicles in the Prius Family could be the first step towards making that happen. In any case, the new 5-door Prius could help the Toyota hybrid compete in the rapidly booming world hybrid auto industry – especially in the US where the average buyer goes for the idea of “bigger is better”.

The Prius Family of Vehicles will make its official 2011 Detroit Auto Show debut at 1:05pm EST on January 10th and for those not in attendance, Toyota will offer a live webcast at ToyotaNewsroom.com.
